·         Corp Seye (Lead City Uni)
·         Corp laitan (Cooperative Press)
·         Corp Adedeji

Ø  DISCUSSION SESSION: Call for the abolition of the NYSC Scheme- Corpers’ perspective.
The discussion session that was suspended the previous week came alive again as the CDS Coordinator called on the following discussants to the floor:
·         Corp Stephen
·         Corp Okoro
·         Corp Taiwo Bankole
The discussion started with Corp Taiwo Bankole who said the NYSC scheme should be restructured in its posting policy; she called for postings around one’s region or state of residence. This Opinion was countered by Corp Stephen who said if the scheme was restructured in its posting policy won’t achieve the NYSC aims and objectives of fostering National Unity.
In support of Corp Stephen’s contribution, Corp Okoro said the NYSC scheme should be sustained due to the newly increased Monthly Allowance package and also said it would be more appealing if corp members could be posted to organizations where their discipline would be relevant.
The LGI said the discussion session was informative and educative.
Mr lasaki jokingly said, that if the NYSC is scrapped, it won’t have effect on him because he has an edge of experience over us but would have a direct pressure on the labour market as more people would be thrown back to it.
He said if given the opportunity, he would to restructure the scheme by empowering graduates with special skills and give them capital to make investment or set up their firms, become self reliant and even employ people, thereby reducing cases of unemployment.

CLOSING
The meeting came to a close at exactly 12:00noon with a prayer said by the CLO and the NYSC anthem sung thereafter.

NYSC SCHEME: THE ANTICIPATED MOBILIZATION, EXPERIENCE AND 'LIFE AFTER'.

Flashing back to some 24, 12 ,10 , 5 months back depending on your batch and you will realise you were still back at the Orientation camp at Iseyin,Oyo State heeding to the everyday morning call at 4:00am in the unfriendly and cold weather to observe the compulsory parades which doesnt spare you from participating in the drills, Man O' War activities, Mountaineering exercise etc.

After the 3 weeks Orientation course, you knew your fate in the posting letters handed over to you as regards where you will spend the next 10 months of your service year; unaware of the destination, welfare package and to live on a meagre amount of money given to you as Monthly allowance for your upkeep through out the service year. Luckily for you, you were involved in the 2011 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registration and Voting exercise in which you were handsomely paid for, but if we are asked about the whereabouts of the pay today; many would be downcast like a novice tailor without any answers forthcoming...

Now, that the service is over, you faced with the real defination of LIFE where you are considered responsible enough to fend for yourself, but the question arises, 'Am I going to get a Job immediately? ' 'What if the traveling arrangement overseas for my Masters' degree flops?' What if my uncle fails me in securing a job in his colleague's firm?

Good News to you!!! Your fears are over,Though traveling abroad to further your studies is great is but it is not until travel abroad before you start to make something good out of your life, but you have to discover your interest, skills and build on them.

How much do you know the Local Government Inspector (LGI)?
His name is:
Mr O.A.S Lasaki

MINUTES OF CDS MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, 4TH OF AUGUST, 2011.

NYSC, OLUYOLE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAPTER, OYO STATE.
MINUTES OF CDS MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, 4TH OF AUGUST, 2011.
OPENING
The opening prayer was said by Corp Bankole Taiwo at exactly 11:30 am and the NYSC Anthem was sung thereafter.
The CD coordinator, Corp. Taiwo Folarin gave the CDS meeting a new dimension as he invited some corp members to discuss the topic “Call for Abolition of NYSC scheme: Compass perspective”.
The LGI, Mr Lasaki suspended the discussion session before it started due of the arrival of some personnel from State NYSC Secretariat.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) TRAINING
The people were staff of Joroay Technologies- experts in Information Technology(IT)  Training . The team was led by Mr Ademola Fadeyibi who was spoke on the benefits of the IT packages, beckoning on corpers to take utmost advantage of the programmes with the discounts on them.
Thereafter, the other CDS coordinator, Ada gave the vote of thanks.
 MATTERS ARISING
Ø  INCREASED BANK CHARGES ON MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
The LGI said he was aware of the bank charges on corpers Monthly Allowance every month which had sky-rocketed to N210. He said it was general to all corpers in the state who have opened account with FINBANK. Mr Lasaki, in an emotion laden way said drastic measures are being put in place to ensure the trend doesn’t  continue in that way.

Ø  NYSC 2010 BATCH ‘C’ PROJECT
The CDS coordinator had reached an agreement with the house based on majority votes for the implementation of the completion of the uncompleted toilet building at a school at Academy, Ibadan.
This was the agreement before the LGI stepped in and made us to understand that many feet would be trampled upon if we are to do a project based on votes. He sampled the opinion of those who didn’t support the agreement to make suggestion of what could be done.
Corp Sandra suggested on distribution of NYSC customized textbooks which the LGI kicked against due to the fact that it was the last batch’s final Project which can’t be repeated.
In the absence of any other idea, the LGI supported the initial project and said it would be implemented by hiring committed labourers to do the work.
The CDS coordinator said it would only take the labourers 6 days to complete the work:

Carpenter    – 2 days
                              Bricklayer   - 3 days
                              Painter         - 1 day
                                                     6 days

MINUTES OF CDS MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, 28TH OF JULY, 2011.
OPENING
The CDS meeting for the day didn’t take the regular procedure as it coincided with the monthly Payment Voucher (PV) signing, hence its skeletal nature.
The LGI, Mr Lasaki, apologized to all Corp members for the failure of the much anticipated coming of NYSC Officials from the National Secretariat to the Local Government (LG) as many stayed behind in expectation of their visit. He said they couldn’t make it to the LG again as their vehicle broke down on their way.
He Congratulated us all of the increment of our National monthly allowance and Arrears.
MATTERS ARISING
Ø  RED ALERT: FRAUDSTERS AT IT AGAIN.
The LGI, warned us of the activities of fraudsters calling Corp members to pay a certain amount to be able to receive monthly allowance Arrears payment. He said this is dubious and that NYSC won’t call anybody to pay an amount before receiving the arrears
Ø  CORPERS NOT ALLOWED TO TRAVEL AGAIN
Mr Lasaki told us that no corp member is allowed to travel out of his/her State of Posting again. This directive came from the new State Coordinator, Mrs Adetokunbo Idowu. This, he said is very serious as there are no ‘sacred cows ‘ – even the NYSC officials working in the state are not permitted to travel.
Ø  PERSONAL PROJECT
We were charged to embark on personal project as it has always been said that Corpers in Oluyole LG don’t  execute personal project. The LGI told us of the readiness of the Oluyole NYSC office to rally round us and give support when embarking on such project.
ANNOUNCEMENT
v NO CORPER IS ALLOWED TO TRAVEL OUT OF HIS/HER STATE OF POSTING HENCEFORTH, DEFAULTERS WOULD BE SERIOUSLY SANCTIONED.
